How It Started

Kimber and Calley met playing sand volleyball, and over a pitcher of Summer Shandy, they quickly bonded over three things: the Green Bay Packers, growing up in Wisconsin, and, of course, their love of cheese.

As their friendship grew, so did their adventures. Road trips down the back roads of the Midwest introduced them to countless small creameries, cheesemakers, and specialty cheese shops. They fell in love with the incredible variety of cheese being made throughout the region—and began wondering why so little of it was making its way to the Twin Ports.

Over a few local beers, the idea for Yes, Cheese was born.

After a few months of ruminating, planning, and finding a kitchen to call home, they turned that idea into reality in 2021. Yes, Cheese began as a charcuterie company built around a simple idea: bring exceptional Midwest cheese to the Twin Ports. Every cheese was personally hand-selected (and thoroughly sampled!) and thoughtfully paired into artfully curated charcuterie boxes designed to make great cheese easy to enjoy.

The Story Continues…

Since those early days of brewery pop-ups, Yes, Cheese has continued to grow. We’ve participated in events throughout the Twin Ports, including Winter Village, built relationships with local breweries and businesses, expanded our menu and catering offerings, and eventually opened our very own storefront in Superior.

A lot has changed along the way—including some of the faces behind the counter.

After years of building Yes, Cheese together, Calley moved on to a new chapter, becoming a mom and embracing farm life. While she may no longer be behind the counter, she’s still very much a part of the Yes, Cheese family. She remains an enthusiastic cheese connoisseur and can often be found stopping in to sample new cheeses and share her thoughts on the latest flavors.

Kimber continues to carry the cheese torch, having transitioned into full-time cheese mongering. She runs the shop, searches out the best cheeses the Midwest has to offer, and is always on the hunt for something new and delicious to bring through our doors.

And joining the Cheese Life is Kimber’s sister, Rhawnie. A longtime helper during busy event seasons, Rhawnie officially took on a more permanent role as a part-owner of Yes, Cheese. When she’s not snow plowing, you might find this Army veteran and bass player helping out on busy nights, lending a hand at events, or supporting the bigger adventures of Yes, Cheese.

What started as two friends dreaming over drinks has grown into a cheese shop, gathering place, and celebration of the incredible cheesemakers and small businesses that make the Midwest so special.
